Programs for Children
The Family Storyhour will be offered two days a week from September through May, with a few breaks during school vacations and holidays. This continuous program will better accommodate drop-ins and provide families with an easier schedule and more opportunities to attend. Regular Storyhours are not offered from June through August - Please refer to the Summer Reading Calendar for Children's Summer programs and events.
Storyhours for all ages will begin on Tuesday morning at 10:30 AM and on Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM. Both storyhours will be aimed at families, from infant through grandparents, and use the same stories and crafts.
Each Storyhour will start with parachute play (see picture), which will require the assistance of older children and adults. Children’s Librarian Miss Liz will tell 3 to 4 stories based on a theme starting with one or two short ones for younger children and ending with more involved stories for older children and adults. Finger plays and music will be interspersed with the stories, and an easy craft will conclude the program.
Parents are requested to stay, participate, and assist with the craft. A wish list for both craft materials and snack will be posted in the Children’s Library.
