Family Search Affiliated Library
The Middleborough Public Library is an affiliated Family Search Center library associated with the Family History Library (FHL) in Salt Lake City.
Library users can access more than 2.5 million rolls of microfilm from the FHL's collection by searching and ordering microfilm online.
The Loan Process
To order film patrons must create an account at www.familysearch.org/films. After ordering they will be notified by e-mail at every step of the loan process. They may also track their order's progress through their Family Search account. Ordered films are only shipped to the Library, where they must be used in the library's genealogy room. The reference librarian is responsible for keeping the films when not in use, and for returning them to the FHL.
The loan is free but there is a small shipping and handling charge for each film based on the patron's geographical location. Fees can be paid using a credit card, debit card or PayPal.
Loan are made for 30 days. Patrons must make their own arrangements online if they want to extend the loan on a film they've already ordered.
