  • The History of the Town of Middleborough, Massachusetts
    • A good place to begin looking are the two volumes of The History of the Town of Middleborough, Massachusetts
      • Volume 1 - by Thomas Weston - early settlement to 1905
      • Volume 2 - by Mertie Romaine - 1905 to 1965
    • Copies of both volumes are available for purchase, reference or borrowing.
  • Vital Records
    • Information about people prior to 1850, and from 1850 through 1944, can be found in the two volumes of the Vital Records of Middleborough. These records are available both at the Library and online in the Digital Library.
  • Old Cemeteries of Southeastern Massachusetts
  • Town Reports (1849 - present)
    • General information about town government, departments and finances can be found in the Town Reports . These are available at the Library - ask to see them at the Main Desk or Reference Desk.
  • Street Lists (1924 to the present)
    • Addresses of residents can be found in the Street Lists. There are also commercial street directories covering some of the years between 1895 and 1911. These are available at the Library - ask to see them at the Main Desk or Reference Desk.
  • Thompson Slide Collection
    • Pictures of historic Middleborough buildings and events can be found in Volume One and Volume Two of the Thompson Slide Collection. You can also borrow or purchase a CD version for your home computer or download copies from our website.
  • Middleborough Antiquarian
    • Pictures and essays on various features of historic Middleborough can be found in the collected issues of the Middleborough Antiquarian. Ask for assistance at the Reference Desk.
  • Cranberry Collection
    • Information about the history of the cranberry industry in Southeast Massachusetts is kept in the locked cabinets of the Cranberry Collection located in the Genealogy Room. Please see the Reference Librarian for access to this special collection. A limited selection of items from this collection is also available online.
  • Middleboro Historic House Survey
    • Information about a limited number of historic houses and buildings is available in the Middleboro Historic House Survey. This information is indexed by street address. Ask for assistance at the Reference Desk.
  • Year Books
    • Middleboro Memorial High School Yearbooks are available to look at in the building only. Please ask for assistance at the Reference Desk or Main Desk.
  • The Sachem
    • Middleboro Memorial High School's student magazine, The Sachem, was published from 1924 to 1945. These issues are available to look at in the Genealogy Room.
  • Middleborough Gazette
    • Past issues of The Middleboro Gazette are available on microfilm at the Library. As part of an ongoing index project, the paper is indexed in detail from 1852 to 1868 and from 1905 to 1944. The paper is indexed by people, places, subjects and events of note.
    • A print copy of the index covering 1852 to 1868 only is available at the Reference Desk.
  • Reference Files
    • Specific topics pertaining to Middleboro (such as bylaws, census, building projects, statistics) are located in the Reference Files. Please ask at the Reference Desk for whatever you would like to examine. Current topics are kept on the Main Floor; older data is kept in the Genealogy Room on the second floor.
