We're excited to announce that we're expanding the Teen Area! Teens visiting the Library will have an added seating area to study and participate in tabletop gaming, crafts and activities.
You may have noticed the changes occurring over the last month in the area behind the main circulation desk. We've been making room for a new table for that space where two of our shelves have been removed.
Part of the teen book collection has been shifted, as well. You can now find young adult (YA) audio books and nonfiction on aisle 16. The YA graphic novels and manga have been transferred to the other side of that same shelf where they'll have more room to grow and are easier to browse.
The new YA space will provide more room, light, and privacy for teens to work, study and socialize. They'll have the opportunity to try lots of different classic and popular card and board games; draw, color, and write; and challenge themselves creatively through monthly offerings of fun crafts.
The seating area will also function as a study space where teens can use laptops, tablets and other electronic devices to help with their homework and research.
Changes to the Teen Area should be completed by the end of this month. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this (sometimes noisy!) adjustment period.
