CAMP CRAFTS: FRIENDSHIP BRACELETS  (Ages 10-18)
July 5 - 1:00-2:00 PM

Drop-in the Large Meeting room to make a traditional camp craft:  friendship bracelets.  Seating and materials are on a first come, first served basis.  This program is generously supported by the Friends of the Middleborough Public Library. 

  

I SURVIVED!  BASIC WILDERNESS SURVIVAL  (Ages 10-18)
July 14 - 1:00-3:00 PM

Learn the basics of wilderness survival with Matt Gabriel from Animal Survivor Man!  Learn how to construct a simple shelter, coal-burn a wood bowl, rock boil drinking water, soups & stews, and unlock the mystery of primitive fire making with the bow drill. This library event will take place at Soule Homestead at 46 Soule ST in Middleboro.  Registration required.



FELTED WOODLAND GNOME WORKSHOP (Ages 12-18)
July 19 - 1:00-2:30 PM

Learn how to use a barbed needle and merino wool roving to create basic shapes and attach them together to form a felted gnome with Pop Up Art School.  No experience necessary. Discover the relaxing art of needle felting!  Registration required.


 
 
 

Lauren Wolk Virtual VisitVIRTUAL VISIT WITH AUTHOR LAUREN WOLK (Ages 9+)
July 21 - 4:00-5:00 PM

Join Ms. Amanda in Library's Large Meeting Room for a moderated conversation with Newbery Honoree, Lauren Wolk, author of Beyond the Bright Sea, Wolf Hollow, and Echo Mountain. The author will also be giving a special reading and will answer audience questions.  Space is first come, first served.  

 
 
 

ARCHERY 101 AT REEDY'S ARCHERY  (Ages 10-18)
August 4 - 1:00-3:00 PM

Make your own arrow and learn how to shoot it!  Participants will have a chance to create their own arrow and then receive instruction on shooting form, bow mechanics, and archery safety.  The library event will be held at Reedy's Archery at 121 Wood ST in Middleboro.  Registration required.  Thank you to the generosity of Reedy's Archery for hosting this program.

In case you'd forgotten or didn't know, you can borrow video games at the Library.  Games are loaned for two weeks and can be renewed for an additional two weeks.

Award winning entertainer and magician Mike Bent brings his show to Middleborough featuring comedy, magic, puppets, music, sound effects and riveting storytelling.  Adventure is Out There highlights some of our favorite books including Spy Camp by Stuart Gibbs, The Boy Who Cried Bigfoot! by Scott Magoon, A Camping Spree with Mr. Magee by Chris Van Dusen and Llama Llama Loves Camping by Anna Dewdney.

Adventure is Out There uses fun, interactive magic to spark young readers' imaginations, taking them off the beaten path to exciting summer reading adventures.  It will leave you wanting s'more!

This program will take place at the Town Hall on Thursday, July 7th at 2 p.m.  Outdoors on the lawn if the weather is favorable.  In the case of inclement weather, the program will move inside the Town Hall to the upstairs ballroom.  Watch the Library's website and social media for weather related updates.

Have you ever wanted to find out what playing Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) is all about without having to buy it?  Here's your chance!
 
You can now borrow one of two role-playing sets for up to two months, giving you plenty of time to learn the rules of the game and complete an adventure.
 
The D&D Starter Set is perfect for beginners aged 12+, offering five pre-generated characters, rulebook, four sets of dice, and a full-fledged adventure that's been crafted for you.  Great for 3-5 players.
 
For those who are familiar with the game but want more freedom to create your own characters and adventure, the D&D Essentials Kit provides everything you need to know to get started, including an introductory adventure, Dungeon Master's screen, map, four sets of dice, and 81 cards for magic items and sidekicks. Ideal for 2-6 players aged 12+.

Bright Star Touring Theatre brings the classic Treasure Island story to the stage of the Town Hall's ballroom on Tuesday, July 19th at 6:30 p.m.

Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island is a tale of “buccaneers and buried gold” which centers on the conflict between good versus evil. The quintessential literary adventure classic, the story of Long John, Doc Livesey and the lad Jim has captivated audiences for over 100 years.

Seating is limited for this event.  Tickets will be handed out at the library on a first come, first served basis beginning July 16th.  All ages welcome.
